If virtual reality becomes indistinguishable from true reality will technological development stop once we can have/do everything we want with almost zero effort?

I recently read Ready Player One (awesome) and this question has been nagging at me ever since. Really what incentive would you have to do anything in real life besides keep your body healthy so that you can indulge in your ideal virtual life?
